The Story of Ebola

10 July

The Global Health Media Project.

A new day. It is what we make of it. Those first flickers of waking can shake us, as we remember a dream, the past, our worries. But then, the day has begun and we have to decide how to proceed.

One morning I woke to an email from Deborah Van Dyke – founder and Director of The Global Health Media Project. She said they were looking for a voice to narrate an animation video on “The Story of Ebola” and they had found my voice online – would I audition for them? YES. YES. YES. Two weeks later, I was in the Just Voices recording studio; with animator Yoni Goodman over Skype, director Simon Lawson in the studio booth and supported by Peter Warnock as our sound engineer – doing my biggest professional voice over job to date. Carpe Diem.

The Global Health Media Project uses videos to teach. The idea is that videos are easy to share, can be translated into different languages and can be easily accessed by frontline health workers. Their mission  – “to help save lives, one health care teaching video at a time”.

“The Story of Ebola” has been created in collaboration with The Red Cross and UNICEF. It is simple and full of information on small but vital things that must be done to protect our lives from this devastating disease.

A twist and a turn and a leap forwards. On a new day, anything can happen. All we have to do, is live.
