Creating my own theatre work for solo performance is intense, random and liberating.

The Lost Theatre in Vauxhall is giving me a stage to do it on. With a group of others also working on their own solo pieces we are creating our work via workshops with director Colin Watkeys. Colin adopts my favourite directorial approach – which is advocated by director David Mamet too – let the actor do her thang.

We have been called “New Shoots”. The piece I am working on is going to be the beginning of something I hope will develop and grow into a full piece of work. At the moment, I am just creating the first ten minutes. At the time I write this, I don’t know what it is or what it will be, but I have a flavour…My performance will be on Tuesday 8th July, 7.30pm. I’ve got time to work it out…as the weeks pass the fear starts to reduce as a solo performance piece starts to take shape. Create it. Believe in it.
